I have very thick, just longer than shoulder length hair. what should i do with it?

I've tried growing it out, cutting it really short, straightening it and even curling it. I want to have the same length I have now but not as thick because the thickness drives me nuts(I know its supposed to be great to have very thick hair, but its a big pain to me). It also gets very very wavy, not curly. Just wavy. Then it looks horrible because my hair goes all over the place. Should I thin it out a bit and/or layer it? Or something else? please help. all opinions considered! lol.thanks!

You're hair sounds EXACTLY like mine! I just got it layered and thinned out and it is way easier to deal with. I would suggest straightening it sometimes, wearing it up, scrunching it with mousse or gel, and sometimes just let it air dry and leave it. Also, make sure to use a wide tooth comb when your hair is wet because a brush can make it frizzy and poofy. Also try some type of smoothing hair serum - it will help keep it from getting too poofy or frizzy. Good Luck!

A good stylist could thin your hair out. Keep the length and have some layers put in it. With a quality styling product and a straightening iron, I think you would be very happy with your hair.

That sounds like my hair! I would say get it layered. Have the stylist cut out hair from underneath to remove bulk. As for the waviness, I guess you could use a straightener.

DO NOT LAYER IT!!!! Layers only look very good on straight hair. You should keep it braided. You can't get rid of thickness in your hair. don't bother trying to straighten it. Perms will do more damage the longer your hair is, and flat irons or things like them take ours to completely straighten your hair with them.

Layers could also make it poofy..I think that you should thin it out..my friend had the same problem and got it thinned and woah whatta difference..but hey thats me.

sounds like you are doing too much to your hair without the proper care needed to maintain your desired results, I am not a hair dresser but it seems that your drying it out. buy a shampoo that really moisturizes for colored and blow dried hair. also look into vitamins that help hair growth.

try longer layers, layers too short will make it look poufy....

Layer it, you keep your length ,but get movement %26amp; some weight off it.
