I am on Lexapro and Lossing my Hair :(?

I started taking Lexapro and everytime I shower big clumps of my hair are running down my back to the drain..this is bothering me ..I am 28 and have long blonde hair ...and I feel horrible that I will soon be bald :( anyone else loosing hair taking this medicine?

The Doctor will tell you it is not the medication but I too have been loosing my hair and wondering which med was doing it!I am a nurse and I have worked at a Mental Health Agency before and noticed that1/2 of the women that come in there have terrible hair loss ,but the Doctor "Always" says "NO it is not the Med."?I believe it is especially since I too recently started taking Lexapro and the same thing is happening to me !!I normally have very thick tough hair and plenty of it.I take other meds but since you mentioned this ,this is exactly when mine started coming out!Literally stopping up the shower Drain????This is the delima go crazy or bald????

Lexapro is not causing the hair loss something else is. See your doc and find out what is causing this.

I have never heard of this side effect of Lexapro. You could check the Lexapro manufacturer's site to see if it is a listed side effect. If this is truly happening because of the medicine, talk to your doctor about switching to another medication.

Good luck-I would not want my long hair to fall out either!
