He has a matt in his hair that's really big, I have no idea how it got there, how do I get it out?? We have tried all kinds of conditioner, detangler, and it's knotted so tight, it seems like it isn't going to come out ever, but that's not an option...it has to come out without cutting it...help!!!!

when it is dry, take a comb (or your fingers) and just go at it a little piece at a time like a puzzle, when I was little someone told me to be GENTLE whenever I was trying to untie a knot, and it has never failed me, just use your fingers and gently seperate a little bit at a time, I am sure this will work :o)

Take him to a stylist and let her slowly and carefully pick it out. If you refuse to do that...use a detangler and conditioner and leave it in his hair while you use the end of a rattail comb to start at the outter edges of the matted hair and pick it out a hair at a time.

Oh my hair sounds just like yours. its really thick and it's curly and the second the rain comes its bigger than a lions.

Here is my remedy, a smoothing shampoo (head and shoulders smooth and silky) no its not just for people with dandruff.

deep conditioning treatment, i like pantene proV intensive repair.

after shower i use bumble and bumble "Straight"

I let it towel dry in a hair wrap for about 45 min to an hour to get excess water out.

blow dry until completely dry using a round wooden brush with hard bristles. Soft ones wont make hair straight.

then, from what ive found to be the BEST hair straightener,

Conair 2 inch Professional Straightener, Model CS19JCS

It's sold at Kohl's i swear $25 and my hair has never looked better.

That says a lot considering ive used straighteners such as Chi, a sharper image iron, and the professional Sapphire from Italy.

I like Matrix biolage hydrotherapie shampoo, conditioner etc. If I don't feel like going to my salon to buy some I get Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise (great deep conditioner) and Pantene's Relaxed and Natural shampoo.

I've never tried any of the other products you bought personally, except for the hot oil treatments and they worked well. I think I could have gotten the same affect from putting warmed olive oil in my hair and letting it sit with a shower cap on my head for15 minutes.

Ok first you probably need a hair cut, just to get rid of your split ends that you have, you can't fix those any other way. After that I suggest a trip to a Sally Beauty Supply they have a line that only they sell called Beyond the Zone, the Last Call Hair Mask, and leave in conditioner are two of the best products i can find on the market that are not super expensive that work well.

I am a big fan of waves for special evenings. To do this, shampoo and condition your hair in the afternoon. You will need large rollers, I use 2 inch wide rollers, but if you want more subtle waves, go with 3 inch wide. While your hair is damp, roll your hair in 3 inch sections, using a fine tooth comb to seperate and bobby pins to secure the rollers. Don't worry if your sectioning is not perfect, as long as you get all of your hair in the rollers, it'll be fine. Use a flexible hold hairspray lightly and let it set before you blow-dry with a diffuser attachment on low. Let your hair cool for about 5 to 10 minutes so the wave will set. After your hair is cool, spray lightly with flexible hold hairspray again, and let it set for a few minutes. Gently unroll your hair. Don't brush it or comb it. Use your fingers to manage the waves. Done!

I think that extensions are your only hope. I don't know of anything that will make hair grow inches in weeks. I switched to organic shampoo and have noticed a big difference with mine its growing faster and is healthier but I've been using it since February.

I have really thick hair as well and to make it curly I use Revlon curling iron, you can set it from 1-25 depending on your thickness. Also before you curl use some Chi oil or Revlon oil to make your hair not stick to the iron as much and create less burns, after the ironing your hair won't be oily looking. If you curl your hair after the shower, wait until it's completely dry, root to tip so you won' t have split ends, yes, even if your hair becomes poofy when it's dry.

Hey people, im about to spend some really big money on getting my hair chemically straightened, and need some really good advice please....so i need to know from people who know someone whos done it, or have done it themselves, and im not talking about relaxing.

1)how long does it last???really, ive been to a salon, got my hair relaxed, and the next day it was back to being really frizzy and dull, someitimes worst......

2)is their much maintenance involved in keeping it straight

if I were you I would go to a salon that has Chi irons and ask if they will show you how good they are. they should do this, because they want to sell them. if not then ask if they can trim your hair and then use the chi iron to see if you like it.

1) It last as long as the hair is on your head. Your hair has been chemically changed.

2)There is no maintenance to keeping it straight, but it's the most caustic chemical that can be put on hair, so regular conditioning is necesssary.

3) No, you can still do a LOT with your hair in a variety of styles. You can stop the processing at less than perfectly straight to maintain more of your natural body. Then when you want the perfectly straight hair, you can use flat irons and curling irons to get different styles.

My daughter was just diagnosed with strep throat, and now there are several big bumps under her hair on the back of her head. She has not bumped her head at all, so I am wondering what might cause this? Could it be swollen lymph nodes from the infection? Are there even lymph nodes on the back of the head, or just in the neck? Please, someone let me know if this is a common thing or if I need to take her in to the doctor.

Are you feeling them on her skull? If that is the case, there are no lymph nodes there and you should probably get it checked out if they do not go down soon or get worse. However, on the back on the head, towards the sides on the neck where it connects to the skull are some lymph nodes.

To me, I have really thick hair and I had it layered and it worked out but not real well. Because it is so thick it gets really frizzy and kinda' poufy instead of real layered looking. I have a friend who had thin hair and had it doen and it looked awesome. Really, it matters only to you, what do you like. But I think that it is a great style for someone with thin hair.

I am a stylist and i do not recommend a perm YOUR hair is in no conditon you need a good hair cut and then need to be taught how to style it to acheive this look. This look is NOT a perm it is curled with a curling iron!

that was done with a curling iron by a pro. as far as your curls go get a moisturizing shampoo and a heat protectant to use when straightening it. that is the frizz cause. take a little length off and they will come around but if you get a perm it might dry it out again. mine were like that and i cut and moisturized and now i have the ringlets again.

After shampooing and conditioning your hair while it's still very wet take small sections and twist them until you have done your entire head. Let you hair dry like that and it will look like the picture.

A perm will only make things worse, i would suggest using a lot of conditioning treatments, try using frizz control stuff. You could talk to a person at a salon and see if they would be willing to perm your hair, from the sounds of it they might tell you no. The girls hair in the picture looks like a spiral perm. Adding more moisture to your hair might bring the frizz down some, i would try anything with moisturizers in it. Add shampoo and conditioners with moisturizers. Hopefully that will help with the frizz. After a few months then you might be able to get the perm, but like I said the salon might tell you no!!

Well it depends if you really want it. I mean it is a really nice hair style, but it's you're chose! If you really like it and think you'll look good then get it, but if you want you can just curl it any time you want. That's what I did, I really wanted to have curly hair, but my mom said it would be better to just get a regular curling iron and just curl it when ever I want! So I get a curling iron for like 30 $ at Ulta beauty store and now I can curl my hair when ever I want! So it's you're chose you can curl it and have the same curly hair for a half a year, or you can just buy a regular curling iron and cury it when ever you want! Hope that helps!

Don't perm it because your hair is already damaged! Just use a curl gel or mouse in your hair when it's wet and scrunch it. Oh and also use a heat protection spray if you're gonna do anything like curl it and a leave in conditioner.

Wow, I had the VERY same probkem as you do until I actually TRIED to do something about it. Ok, if you haven't tried gel, then use it. Immediately after you take your shower, apply a small amount of gel ( any kind, because I have used a couple to experiment and have gotten the same results) to your hair. It depends on how much hair you have, but a small amount works best for me. Don't use too much, or it will make your hair greasy and nasty. After you have applied gel, ( and scrunched it into your hair) blow it dry. Now, I know that this sounds crazy, because blowing it dry usually makes it frizzy, but it works. Afterward, straighten your hair. I promise it will make your hair shiny and very silky. If it worked for me, it will SURELY work for you! Good luck and Happy New Year!

Wow, I have suffered from the frizz for my entire life.

I just started putting flax seed oil in my yogurt every morning for breakfast. After about a month, my hair is shiner and softer than it was when I was 10. It is a miracle...really...not to mention the other benefits like lowering cholestrol.

A straightener would be the best way to prevent it...or you could use an anti-frizz cream, and blow-dry your hair straight with a round brush. If you wanted to wear it curly, you could use a curling mousse and dry your hair with a diffuser. Using an anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner would help a lot too. 1) wear krimps with a clip to the side. Wear something that brings out your feminine side.

2) Use a curling iron and give yourself tight spirals. You could even do a pony in the front to keep it out of your face. You could always wear something flashy but not too bold. Guys don't date hookers!

well i can take a guess that maybe your hair is weak and damaged? try out some strengthening shampoo/conditoner from the drugstore (garnier fructis works really well) and if it continues i would go see the doctor. maybe you shouldn't braid your hair for a while too.

The braids may have caused it to fall out because of the tension that is put on your hair for that process. Another reason could be if you have been under a lot of stress or a major illness, some sort of change in your body. If you use/abuse drugs or alcohol that could be a reason too.

Ou! Sooo sorry! For one, don't do anything until your scalp/skin is back to normal. In the meantime, you will have to search for someone/salon that has experience with color correction - very important!

It might cost a little more, but think of it this way: it's only a 1 time deal and after that you can go anywhere - if not, you risk damaging your hair further, that will result to cutting a lot of it.

Also, don't try to lighten it to much too quickly and let whomever will do the correction know whether it was a red based or ash (non-red) based brown - it will affect outcome!

I think honestly that with really curly hair a straight cut looks great. Wether its a U cut or a V cut as long as it doesn't have tons of layers it looks really good. It's really good advice to make sure you have a good reliable hairdresser, who listens to what you actually want to achieve with your hair.

However, from personal experience, I would say please don't get layers put in your hair - all it will do is make it pouf out at different points, so instead of it being big just at the ends it will stand out all over your head in an uncontrollable halo unless you use straighteners every day. To use hot irons on curly frizzy hair that often isn't good and weakens already-dry and fragile hair to the point it breaks.

If you are that can make you hair fall out..otherwise, i have thin hair and my aunt taught me a trick , Use the conditioner first and only a TINY TINY BIT and DONT PUT IT ON YOUR SCALP!!! Only use conditier when neccesay on ends of hair.( you should not condition your hair more than twice a week) Then after you condition use your shampoo. This should make a dramatic diffreance.

My hair is exactly the same! It drives me crazy too! I finally found a combination that works to straighten my hair. First I use the John Frieda straightening hair serum. You put it on your hair right out of the shower and comb it through. Then I usually let my hair partially air dry. Once it gets about halfway dry, I use another product by VO5, called Miracle!. I have to dry my hair in layers as it is VERY thick. I clip up half my hair, spray the Miracle! on and then blow dry with a big, round, vented brush. You have to actually pull on the brush and hold your hair straight while you are blow drying. I do this in sections for the underneath layer, then take the top layer out of the clip, spray on the product and do the same for the top. It is awesome! It really does work and makes your hair soft, shiny and straight! Hope this helps!

Well there is a special shampoo and conditioner (two-in-one) that is really really helpful. It is by John Freida; and it says 'STRAIGHT HAIR'... it contains non-harmful chemicals for getting the strands rigid. You can use that to make it straighter (it gets rid of frizzies even) and you can use ExtRa conditioner to make your hair softer. It is very effective, trust me.

there are two ways you could do this...

1 would be to just start picking it out, starting at the bottom, and working your way up. this will take a LONG time.

2 is easier, faster, but you have to BE CAREFUL! wet your hair, DON'T WASH IT, put alot of conditioner (detangler if you have it, if not, conditioner will work), concentrating mostly on the areas that are matted. use a wide tooth comb (if you have one...if not, a regular comb will do, not a brush, will do). hold your hair in your hand like a ponytail on the side of your head, and start combing, starting from the bottom and working your way up. hair is more fragile when its wet, so you have to be really careful not to rip it out because it can happen easily.

wetting it and using conditioner help the knots come out easier. just don't rip through it because you're hair will be completely broken afterwards.

I dont get what your asking for, is it like matted up??? If so you need to wash it and try and add a detangling conditioner, get a wide tooth comb and get to combing, but be gentle so you dont pull all your hair out your head....good luck

Olive oil, baby oil may work. Use anything slick BEFORE you start brushing! I would start with a wide tooth comb too if you have one. Hold onto your roots as you brush, but I think pain may be inevitable. Ouchy.

You could wet your hair, douce your hair with loads of conditioner, then try and brush your hair out...that always works for me. Or, if that doesn't work, try using peanut butter. If you're allergic to peanuts...I would suggest not using it.

I have never heard of this side effect of Lexapro. You could check the Lexapro manufacturer's site to see if it is a listed side effect. If this is truly happening because of the medicine, talk to your doctor about switching to another medication.

rite now its got a big poof at the top...so buzz it to where its really even at the top and let it grow to where its long kind of like Zac Effron. the poof at the top makes your head look longer and if you let it grow down around the sides it will balance how long your head is...hope that helps!

I also have big hair. The best thing I have found is Bain de Terre Hair Serum -- I put it on wet then only as needed after my hair dries. Also, when you get your hair cut, have them thin it out like crazy. It really helps! I tell my stylist to keep thinning until she thinks she's done, then do it some more. I have thick, curly hair.. and my hair will poof %26amp; frizz like crazy if I don't do anything to it.

Soo. After I wash %26amp; condition my hair (I use Garnier Fructis Curl %26amp; Shine and it works really well), I put in leave in conditioner (the Curl %26amp; Shine one) and I let my hair air dry. My hair gets reeeaallyyy curly, so it poofs up more than usual.

For styling, I use Sunsilk Frizz Ease 24/7 creme (green bottle) and curl defining mousse (I currently use Garnier Curl Construct, but I like Tresseme Curl Care betterx though they both work well). Oh, I always style my hair with wet hair and I finger comb only.

As for haircuts, I have my hair in really long layers; there's only about two or three layers and then my bangs. This thinned out my hair %26amp; made it more manageable, but my hair is still full and looks nice when I leave it down.

Oh my gosh. You're my hair twin!

Well, I sometimes wash it and then put in some de-frizzer and then, while it's still wet, I put it in a tight bun and let it dry naturally. It will take a long time to dry, maybe a couple hours. You can go to sleep with your hair like that. Then, when you take it out when it is thoroughly dry, you DO NOT BRUSH IT! Only brush it enough to put it in a pony tail or bun or whatever. For me, this way, all of the hair in the bun gets wavy and the part of the hair that is not in the bun gets somewhat tamed. Also, you can just wear the bun out, and that way it doesn't get in your way.

I don't know any haircuts that would be good for you, as I am still looking, too.

Is your shampoo hydrating or moisturizing. Hydrating is better for both, it controls the frizz and helps for the oil.

Also for the frizz try using a flat iron every now and then to control your hand (Ceramic flat iron) that contains the moisture in your hair so it will not frizz and also train your hair to keep the frizz at a more easy level to manage.

I stopped my birth control pill two days ago due to severe hair loss. I am hoping to hear from other ladies that have been on Ortho Tricyclen Lo and had the same problem with hair loss. My biggest question is whether or not the hair grows back after stopping this pill. Hair loss is so bad that boyfriend asked me to stop taking it and stated abstinence would be no problem if that is what it took for me to be side effect free. I'm hoping the hair grows back!

It is more in the way you are applying the colour the reason why It is patching. There is not much difference in semi and permanent when your talking about black. once black is in your hair it is very hard to get out... it will have to be grown out. how will you put the strip of purple in it?? It will have to bleached out white to get a bright purple result. Good luck!!

If you have naturally wavy hair, you're not going to get the look that the first picture has without doing something to your hair. It looks like you have fairly thick hair, you could return to your hair dresser and ask for more rasor layers...that usually thins out your hair a enough so that you don't need to flat iron your hair.

My hair gets that bump, it's just because it's thick though...and I haven't been for a cut in months. The stylist can rasor cut more layers into your hair without altering the length. Rasor layers aren't real layers (like old school Jennifer Aniston layers), but they just remove a lot of the bulk from your hair without makeing a defined layer...talk to a stylist...it's pretty common.

If you don't want to do this, you can get some products, something that will smooth down your hair. Fructis Sleek and Shine Hair Serum is an oil that you put in your hair (once it's dry). The serum just weighs your hair down and makes it really soft (don't use it on your roots...obviously, it's an oil).

Or you can get mousse and finger-comb that through your hair when it's damp. Avoid brushing your hair after getting out of the shower, that will just make it poofier. Finger comb your hair, or use a wide-tooth comb.

You could also try putting mousse in your hair and scrunching it. It gives it a wavy look and you can't see the bumps.
